Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY) - List

The Government of India has formulated the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to provide permanent and affordable housing for the weaker section of society. This programme, launched on 25th June 2015 envisages constructing more than 2 Crores permanent residential homes for the urban and rural poor by 31st March 2022.

The scheme is bifurcated into two parts, the PMAY - Gramin, and PMAY - Urban. Both of these programmes have different eligibility criteria. However, the ultimate objective is the same.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin

The selection of the beneficiaries is made based on the Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC) surveys conducted across each village. It considers various factors before ranking the beneficiaries in the priority list. The aim is to provide a high degree of priority to people who need house the most. This list is updated every year and circulated to the respective Gram Panchayats for verification. Beneficiaries can check whether their names appear in the list by accessing the official website of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin. The list is also displayed prominently in the village Panchayat offices.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban

This programme requires the beneficiaries to apply for financial assistance either online through the official website of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban or through the respective CSCs in their wards or districts. One should note that households having monthly income higher than 50,000 cannot apply online or through the CSC. Such people have to approach the respective banks to apply for Home Loans under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Eligibility Criteria for the EWS/LIG Category

  • The annual household income should not be more than 3 Lakhs for inclusion in the EWS category. Similarly, the maximum annual household income for the LIG segment is 6 Lakhs.
  • The beneficiary family should comprise of the individual, the spouse, and unmarried children
  • The female member of the household should be the co-owner of the property. In other words, the property should be in the joint names of the husband and the wife.
  • The EWS and LIG category get the benefit of interest subsidy amounting to 6.5%

Eligibility Criteria for MIG I and MIG II Category

  • The annual household income ceiling for MIG-I and MIG-II is 12 Lakhs and 18 Lakhs respectively.
  • Eligible beneficiaries in MIG-I get an interest subvention of 4% on loans up to 9 Lakhs, whereas those under MIG-II get interest subsidy up to 3% on loans up to 12 Lakhs.

The scheme envisages maintaining two separate lists for the Rural Housing and Urban Housing programmes.

It becomes easy for the beneficiary to check the list if the registration number is available:

  • Access the official webpage of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin
  • Enter the registration number and submit to get the status

If you do not have the registration number, you need to follow the procedure as listed below:

  • Visit the official webpage of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin
  • Click on the Advanced Search option instead of entering the registration number
  • The system will seek some details
  • Provide accurate details and proceed to the 'Search' option

You will get the status on the screen.

  • Visit the 'Search Beneficiary' menu
  • Enter your Aadhar Number
  • Click on the 'Show' button to get the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban list
