EPF Form 31
An online facility is provided by the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) where member employees can apply for their (EPF) advance. The EPF members will require a form for claiming an EPF advance which is called Form 31. For EPF withdrawal Form 31 is available once the member logs in to the UAN portal. The employee must have updated their bank details, Aadhaar card and PAN card details on the EPFO portal, to apply for EPF advance online.

You can use the advances taken from your EPF scheme to cater to your different financial needs including weddings, house construction, medical exigencies, etc. Following are the reasons for which you may take advances or loans from EPF:

How to Download EPF Form 31 Online?
Form 31 PF can be found on the EPF portal. Following is the process to access it:
- You must log in to the EPFO member portal using your UAN and password for EPF form 31 download.
- Then go to the 'Online Services' tab and select 'Claim' for an online request generation.
- A new page will open mentioning all the details of the member, like your name, date of birth, father's name, Aadhaar number, PAN number, date of joining the company, mobile number, etc.
- After checking all the information for accuracy, you can click on the 'Proceed for Online Claim' button.
- On the next page, there will be the type of claim that you would like to apply for. Select the 'PF ADVANCE (FORM 31)' option from the dropdown menu.
- You will need to select the purpose for the advance from the various options available in the dropdown box, including illness, natural calamities, non-receipt of wages, power cut, and purchase of handicap equipment.
- In the next field, fill the amount of advance you want to withdraw and your current address.
- On completing the adobe steps, you will have to sign the disclosure.
- On checking the box, you will see the 'Get Aadhaar OTP'. Click on it to receive the OTP for authentication.
- On entering the OTP, click on the 'Validate OTP and Submit Claim Form' button to complete the online EPF advance application process and opt for PF form 31 download.

You will be required to produce the following documents for various purposes in PF advance Form 31:

What Does EPF Form 31 Contain?
Form 31 in EPFO form contains the following fields that are to be filled by the EPF member:
- Mobile number
- Purpose for which advance is needed
- Required amount of advance
- Member’s name
- Husband's name (in case of married women)
- Employee PF Account Number
- Monthly basic wages and dearness allowance
- Full postal address
- Applicant’s signature
- Employer’s signature
- Mode of remittance
- If an advance is to be taken for home loan repayment or construction of a flat/ plot via an agency, you have to mention the recipient’s name on whose name the cheque has to be drawn along with the complete address of the recipient.

- Bank’s name
- Branch’s name and complete address
- IFSC code
- Copy of a cancelled cheque
- If the advance is to be taken for wedding expenses, you have to mention the details of your daughter/son/sister/brother who is getting married including their age, wedding date and address.

How to Submit Form 31?
Following are the steps to submit Form 31 offline as well as offline:
- Online
- Click on the https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ link.
- Log in to the EPF portal with your UAN number and password.
- Then click on the 'Sign In' button.
- Under the 'Online Services' tab, select the ‘'Form-31, 19, 10C & 10D' option.
- An auto-filled form will be visible on your screen, where you have to enter the last 4 digits of your bank account and then verify it.
- Now, a 'Certificate of Undertaking' will pop up on a new window on your screen, where you will be asked if you agree with all the terms & conditions. Here, click on the 'Yes' option.
- Now choose the 'Proceed for Online Claim' option, and choose the 'PF Withdrawal' option from the dropdown menu.
- Select the 'PF Advance Form' option and enter details like the amount you want to withdraw, the purpose for the withdrawal, etc.
- Then click on the 'Submit' button to complete your online application process.
- Offline
- Download Form 31 and fill it with all the required details and sign it.
- Then contact your employer to get your certificate validated.
- Make sure that your employer fills in all the correct required details and provides all the relevant enclosures attested.
- Then submit Form 31 to your respective judicial EPFO office.
Check Status of EPF Form 31
Following are the steps to be followed to check your EPF Form 31 claim status:
- Click on the https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ link.
- Log in to the EPFO portal by entering your UAN number and password.
- Then click on 'Sign In'.
- Select the option 'Track Claim Status' under 'Online Services’.
- Select the location of your respective PF office from the dropdown menu.
- You will be able to see the code of your PF office along with the region code on your screen.
- Now enter the establishment code (this can be found on your pay slip).
- Then enter your 7-digit account number before clicking on the 'Submit' button.
You can view the status of your Form 31 in PF claim now.

The amount of PF withdrawal form 31 from your PF corpus depends on the reason for which you want to withdraw and the time period of your service. You can easily complete the process of EPF withdrawal Form 31 online.
It will take at least 2 weeks for your EPF application to be verified and the transfer of funds to your bank account.
Full PF amount withdrawal is allowed only when an individual retires or if they remain unemployed for more than 2 months.
