Syndicate Bank Credit Card

Syndicate Bank was founded by Shri T M A Pai in the year 1925 in Udupi. The main objective of the bank was to provide financial assistance to the weavers who were at that time facing a challenge due to the crisis in the handloom industry. Way back the bank was popularly known as Canara Industrial and Banking Syndicate Limited. The bank was nationalised in the year 1969 along with 13 other major commercial banks by the Government of India. The headquarters of Syndicate Bank is in Manipal.

The bank that started with a capital of 8000/- has grown leaps and bounds in the 93 years of its existence. Prathama Bank in Moradabad district was the first Regional Rural Bank promoted in the year 1975 by Syndicate Bank. The bank expanded its business within India and also overseas. The bank has a branch in London and National Exchange Companies at Doha and Muscat. As on date, the branch has a wide network of 4000 branches across the country.

The bank offers various corporate and retail banking services and products. Credit Cards are one among the products provided by the Bank. The Syndicate Bank credit cards are well known for the interest on revolving credit facility as low as 2% and the minimal fee charged.

The procedure for the obtention of the card is very simple and hassle-free. The bank also has a pre-approved card facility for its customers having housing loan, car loan, term deposits, and pigmy deposits.

Types of Syndicate Bank Credit Card

There is one category of Syndicate Bank Credit Card i.e., Syndicate Bank Global Credit Card.

There are two variants under Syndicate Bank Visa Global Credit Card.

  • Classic Card
  • Gold Card

Features of Syndicate Bank Credit Card

The following are the features of Syndicate Bank Credit Card

  • Personalised credit card with photo and signature of the cardholder will be issued which secures the transactions made at merchant establishments. The personalised card serves the purpose of Identify Proof.
  • Cash withdrawal facility at around 1700 Syndicate Bank ATMs and at around 1`,20 lakhs ATMs displaying VISA Logo. There are around 25 lakhs ATMs displaying VISA log across the country.

Cash withdrawal up to 15% of the credit limit for Classic Cards and 25% of the credit limit for gold Cards is permitted.

  • Interest-free credit period between 20 days to 50 days is available.
  • A revolving credit facility is available wherein you will have to pay 10% of the bill outstanding on the due date and the balance will be carried over to the next billing statement. However, interest will be collected for the carried over balance till the date of payment.
  • In the event of loss or theft of the credit card, the liability on the card will be restricted to 1000/- after reporting of the loss/theft to the Bank.
  • The cards will be issued for a period of 5 years and will be renewed thereafter.
  • The cards will be issued at all the branches of Syndicate Bank across the country.
  • Customers having a housing loan, car loan, term deposits, pigmy deposit, defence personnel, and judges will be issued cards with pre-fixed limits without insisting on income proof depending on their relationship with the Bank.
  • The billing statements with details of transactions for a billing cycle will be generated on the 20th of every month and will either be sent to the registered address or to the registered email ID. Customers who have opted for e-statement will get a soft copy of the statement to the registered email ID. The credit card dues have to be paid on or before the 10th of the succeeding month.
  • Facility to view the transaction details and the billing details online by registering through the official website of the Bank.
  • The finance charges on revolving credit facility is as low as 2% p.m.
  • Real-time updates of all the transactions will be given through SMS on the registered mobile number.
  • OTP will be generated for all the online transactions which will be sent to the registered mobile number for authentication. This makes online transactions highly secure.
  • If a purchase made is subsequently cancelled, the reversal of the amount may take some time and may not reflect in the immediate billing statement. Payment of the credit card dues should not be withhold for this reason as this may hamper your credit history.
  • The cards are not valid for foreign currency transactions in Nepal, Bhutan and India.
  • A facility to convert purchases above 2500/- on the card can be converted to EMIs payable in easy instalments.
  • Add-on card facility for family members of the cardholder is available.
  • The cardholder has the option to request for a credit limit lesser than the eligible limit. Limit enhancement request can be given subsequently in case of need. Limit enhancement charges will be collected.

Syndicate Bank Credit Card Reward Details

1 reward point will be given for every 400/- spent on the card.

The reward points can be redeemed for payment of renewal fee of the existing card or the points will be credited to the credit card account of the cardholder in multiples of 500 at 0.50 per reward point with a maximum redemption of 500 points.

Syndicate Bank Credit Card Fee Details

No joining fee will be charged for both primary and add-on Classic Card and Gold Card.

The renewal fee is 300/- for the primary card of Classic Credit Card and RS. 150/- for the add-on card.

The renewal fee is 500/- for the primary card of Gold Credit Card and 250/- for the add-on card.

Eligibility Criteria for Syndicate Bank Credit Card

The following are the eligibility criteria for Syndicate Bank Credit Card.

  • The card will be issued preferably to customers who have been maintaining an account with the Bank for the last 6 months and have a good track record.
  • The applicant should be a resident of India.
  • Having a Pan number is a mandatory criterion to qualify for the card.
  • Salaried individuals, self-employed individuals/professionals, and businessmen are eligible for the card.
  • The salaried persons should be in the age group between 21 years to 60 days. The age criterion for self-employed individuals/professionals is 21 years to 65 years. The maximum permissible age for Senior Citizens is 75 years.
  • Salaried individuals should have a minimum annual income of 60,000/- for Classic Card and 1.50 lakhs for Gold Card.

Self-employed individuals/professionals, and businessmen should have a minimum annual income of 1.00 lakh for Classic Card and 2.00 lakhs for Gold Card.

Senior citizens are not eligible for Gold Cards. The minimum annual income for Senior Citizens to be eligible for Classic Card is 60,000/-

  • The card will be issued to Non- Resident Indians and Persons of Indian Origin only if they have been maintaining an account with the Bank.
  • The card will be issued to Foreign Nationals working in India only if they have an account with the bank subject to certain conditions stipulated by the Bank.

  • Proof of ID: Photo ID proof like Aadhar Card, Voter?s ID card, Driving Licence, Passport, and Pan card. (Anyone should be submitted)

The payment for Syndicate Bank Credit Card can be made in the following ways

  • Auto-debit: If you have a Savings/Current Account with the Bank, you can give auto -debit instructions to debit the minimum amount due to the account on the payment due date.
  • Internet Banking: Cardholders maintaining a Savings Bank/Current Account with the Bank can make the payment of the credit card dues through Internet Banking.
  • NEFT: Cardholders who wish to make the payment from other Bank accounts can do it through NEFT. The 16-digit card number should be given for the beneficiary account No. and the account number for which the amount has to be debited along with the amount, IFSC code of Syndicate Bank, location of the branch should be provided.
  • Visa Money Transfer: Cardholders who wish to make the payment through other banks Visa Cards can do so by Visa Money Transfer.
  • By Cheque/Demand Draft: These payments can be made by issuing a cheque or through demand draft. In both cases, the payee?s name will be the 16-digit card number. Details of the cardholder?s name and mobile number should be given on the reverse of the cheque/demand draft.
  • By Cash: Payment for the credit card dues can be made by depositing cash at any of the Syndicate Bank branches within the normal business hours.

You will have to register for the net banking facility if you are a customer of Syndicate Bank. You will have to then log in using the User ID and Password. The payment can then be made using the funds transfer option.

   The following are the safety tips for Syndicate Bank Credit Cards

  • Signature has to be affixed on the panel provided on the reverse of the card immediately on receipt of the card.
  • The cards should not be scratched or bent. You should be especially careful about the magnetic stripe on the reverse of the card.
  • Two cards with magnetic stripe should not be kept together.
  • The card should not be exposed to electronic devices/gadgets/direct heat.
