19-Day Old Girl from Haryana: First Beneficiary of Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Karishma, the 19-day-old girl from Haryana, has become the first beneficiary of Ayushman Bharat Yojana – National Health Protection Scheme. She was born on August 15 at Kalpana Chawla government hospital, Karnal.

Karishma’s mother Mausami praised the government for implementing the scheme by saying that the government will be bearing all medical expenses and the scheme is very good.

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, also announced on the occasion of Independence Day, that the flagship project of AB-NHPM, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyaan will be also be launched on 25th September this year.

The AB-NHPM scheme is also known as ‘Modicare’, was launched in February 2018 by the Government of India. The one of its kind healthcare policy aims to cover over 100 million vulnerable and poor families of India, based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) database. The scheme promises to provide a coverage of up to Rs. 5,00,000 to each family per year for all secondary as wells tertiary care hospitalisation.

Eligible beneficiaries can avail the benefits of this scheme in anywhere across the country and they will also be allowed to get cashless benefits from any public or private empanelled hospitals of the country.
