On the eve of 74th Independence Day, HDFC Bank has announced a gift of Shaurya KGC Card for 45 lakh personnel of Indian Armed Forces, comprising Army, Navy and Air Force. The offering is extension government backed Kisan Credit Card Scheme.
The card offers easy credit for agriculture and allied activities with an extended life cover of Rs 10 Lakh for the card holder. In a regular Kisan Credit Card, the card holder gets indemnity of Rs 2 Lakh only. HDFC Bank has till date disbursed over five lakh agri-loans. There are a total of 12 Krishi Dhan Vikas Kendras set up by HDFC Bank across India.
Considering the nature of work of the soldiers, the HDFC Bank has offered a great deal of flexibility in initiating the card application.The applicant need not be physical present to apply for the card said the bank’s press statement.
With Shaurya KGC Card, the card member can avail of credit for agricultural needs such as:
crop production
harvest maintenance purchase farm machinery like tractors, harvesters etc
buying irrigation equipment
constructing storage structures

The HDFC Bank MD Aditya Puri said at the launch, “With this (Shaurya KGC Card), we have an equally good product for armed forces brethren as we have for farmers. This is our Independence Day gift to our protectors.”
